Attached herewith please find the official results NASeA 2017 Election. Manual count sheets with witness signatures have been handed over to the newly elected General Secretary Mr. Krishna Shrestha for record keeping. Anyone who was not present during the Oath ceremony must make plans to contact election chair to conduct official oath before they are eligible to participate in official conduct of business. Appointment letter and certificates have been issued already. Those who have not received yet must contact General Secretary. General Secretary should keep a copy of appointment letters for organizational records.

Subj:Further clarification of code of conduct #13 by election commission

Upon review of the code of conduct, election commission was brought to the attention that current cde of conduct listed below might pose some confusion and conflict. Election commission is publishing the new revised code of conduct to replace the old one with immediate effect.

Old code of conduct rule #13

13. If more than allocated number of persons are marked then for that position entire ballot will be invalid, but it will not affect the other positions. Example: If some one votes for both Presidents but correctly votes for other positions only the votes for President will be invalid and others will be counted. Example 2: If someone checks marks for 16 or more person in the board ballot then entire ballot will be invalid. However if instead of 15 , someone decides to select only 8 then all eight will be counted.

New rule #13 is as follows.

Officer Ballot: In the case of Officers ballot only the position in question will be invalid and votes will not be counted for that position only but all other valid position will be counted.  Example: If some one votes for both Presidents but correctly votes for other positions only the votes for President will be not be counted and all others will be counted.

NASeA’s Election Committee invites nominations from its members to serve as Officers of the Board for a two-year term beginning September 4, 2017.

The nominations are available for the following positions:

· President (1)

· Executive Vice President (1)

· Vice President (1)

· General Secretary (1)

· Joint Secretary (1)

· Treasurer (1)

· Board (Executive) Members (15)

Interested members can either self-nominate or nominate other individuals who are dues paying members of NASeA as of July 4, 2017, including attendees at the 2016 ANMA/NASeA annual convention in St. Louis, Missouri with payment of the full registration fees, or who are life members of NASeA. Nominations must be received by the Election Committee by Thursday, August 3, 2017 for consideration.

Nominations must be submitted by following the guidelines and procedures as described below.

The nominee must:
1. Be a NASeA member in good standing.
2. Has attained the age of 18 years by the filing deadline.
3. Has been a NASeA member for at least sixty (60) days immediately preceding the election.
4. In the case of President, in addition to the above three requirements, has served as a Board officer for at least one term (2 years)

Nomination procedures:

While submitting a nomination, the following procedures must be followed:

1. One individual is eligible to compete for only one position.
2. A nominator can send nomination for one or more positions.
3. The following information about the nominator must be provided:

4. The position or positions being nominated must be clearly specified.

6. A statement must be provided by the nominator that, to his/her best knowledge, the nominee is eligible for the position according to the nomination guidelines described above and in the bylaws.

9. Only nominations sent to the e-mail address in #8 above will be considered by the Election Commission. Any e-mail with questions or comments about the nomination process and election will not be entertained or replied.

2017 NASeA Voters list

Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA)

NASeA’s election for the Board of Directors and Officers will be held on September 3, 2017, during the Annual NASeA/ANMA Convention to be held in Charlotte, NC.

As per the bylaws of NASeA, only those individuals who are members of NASeA by July 4, 2017, would be eligible to contest or vote in the election.

Currently, only members of NASeA include (a) attendees at the 2016 ANMA/NASeA annual convention in St. Louis, MO (September 2-4, 2016) with payment of the full registration fees and (b) NASeA annual member (c) life members of NASeA. Anyone registering with Full package for the convention by July 4, 2017, would be immediately granted membership of NASeA without incurring additional membership fees. Therefore, the Election Committee encourages all individuals who are not currently members of NASeA to register for the convention and become members of NASeA by July 4, 2017, and thereby be eligible to contest or vote in the election.

As per NASeA bylaws, anyone registering for the convention after July 4, 2017, would not be eligible to contest or vote in the election to be held on September 3, 2017

IMPORTANT NASeA ELECTION TIMELINE for TERM 2017-2019.

Year: 2017, Time Zone: Eastern Standard Time (EST, Washington DC)

July 01: General call to interested public to start considering nomination of their candidacy for various open posts in NASeA to serve for the 2017-2019 term.

July 04: Deadline to register to be eligible voter. Only members who register before midnight or have post-marked dates (if mailing) will be considered eligible for further verification. Anyone registering after this deadline can participate in all other conference activities except voting for the current term candidacy.

July 09: Executive Committee of current NASeA will submit first level of verification list of eligible voters to Election Commission. Executive Committee will also submit list of voters who were removed from the list and the reasons for it to the election commission.

July 16: Election Commission will publish first draft of list of eligible voters in NASeA website.

July 22: Voters can verify their eligibility status from website and can communicate with Election Commission via email if they have any question regarding their eligibility. Individual must provide their Full Name, Address, DOB and Contact Phone so that the commission contact you if further details are required.

July 23: Final Eligible Voters list will be Published in the NASeA website.

July 29: Candidates can file nomination following the appropriate eligibility criteria for various open posts using ONLY the downloadable or fillable forms that will be posted in the NASeA website by this deadline.

August 05: Withdrawal deadline for Candidates from various posts.

August 07: Final list of contestants will be published.

September 03: Election Day. Please be prepared to produce appropriate picture identification or other forms of proofs to verify your identity. You shall be denied voting if you do not produce such proofs to the satisfaction of onsite verification team. Election time notice will be published separately.
