NASeA Election 2015 Results
Dear all,
The election of the Board of Officers and Directors of the Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) was conducted during the NASeA-ANMA Joint Convention in Embassy Suites, Greensboro, NC on Sunday September 6, 2015. The results are shown below and also attached in the PDF file.
The Election Committee likes to thank the following
(a) All voters and candidates;
(b) Verification Committee – Prakash Malla, Chair; Ajaya Satyal, Member; and Lekh Nath Ghimire, Member. and IT specialists Ritesh Adhikari, Samir Upadhyay, and Shailendra Bajracharya.
(c) Volunteers including Dr. Hari Dhungana, Saubhagya Shrestha, Raju Thapa, Dr. Lila Karki, Gopendra Bhattarai, C.K. Theme: Enhancing Unity and Integration Among Nepalese Diaspora Through NRN
Dr. Keshab Paudel was born and raised in Nepal. He graduated from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu Nepal in 2002. After his graduation from medical school, he worked for 3 years there prior coming to the US for his post-graduate training. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency from Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx New York. Then, he joined United Health Services Hospitals/ SUNY Upstate Binghamton in July 2010 as hospitalist physician. He was a teaching faculty for the residents and medical students there. He enjoyed the position of Core faculty of the residency program and Assistant professor of clinical medicine. While working as an academic hospitalist and member of the residency committee, he decided to pursue his MBA from University of Tennessee and completed in December 2013. In November 2013, Dr. Paudel assumed new role as a director of a hospital medicine program with Lovelace Health System/Hospital Physician Partners. He was promoted to an Associated System Medical Director in June 2014. In March of 2015, Dr. Paudel joined Concentra as an Area Medical Director.
He was heavily involved in social work since the early days in his life. He was the president of Junior Red Cross Committee while in the high school. He led free student union in various capacities while in Tribhuvan University. He was the president of Technical student forum in Nepal during the year 1998-2000. He was elected to the post of Central member of Nepal student union in 1999-2001. He had served on the board of America Nepal Medical foundation. He is currently an advisor of Blood donors of America. He serves as the President of Society of Hospital Medicine, New Mexico Chapter and Membership director of American College of Physician, New Mexico. He is currently the Fellow of American College of Physician and senior fellow of Hospital medicine.
Dr. Paudel was one of the advisors of the NRN NCC of USA in the year 2014-2015. Now, he is the elected President of NRN NCC USA 2015-2017.
He has done extensive research in the area of quality initiatives and process improvement. He chaired various hospital committees including but not limited to Pharmacy and therapeutics, Peer review, and Quality committee. He was awarded with best Medical Officer Award while at Tribhuvan University. He is married with 7 year old son. He is engaged in many voluntary social works, likes hiking and enjoys listening to music. He enjoys playing table tennis in his spare time.

Writing Contest
The Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) and the Association of Nepalese in Midwest America (ANMA) are announcing the annual student writing contest. The contest is open to all high school, middle school, and elementary school students living in North America.
The goal of this contest is to increase awareness of Nepali culture in order to preserve our culture and ultimately gain a better understanding of ourselves.
Listed below are brief details regarding the individual contest for high school, middle school and elementary school participants. For detailed information regarding guidelines, eligibility, submission date, judging committee, and judging criteria, please read the corresponding attachment

High School Contest
Essay: Rebuilding the Lost Heritage
If you were a policy-maker how would you plan on rebuilding historic monuments destroyed and damaged by recent massive earthquake in Nepal?
What will be your short-term priority and your long-term agenda? Since thousands of historical monuments have been affected by the earthquake, how would you prioritize where to begin the recovery process? What kind of infrastructure would you reinstate?
(Guideline: The essay should incorporate a plan for rebuilding both completely destroyed and extensively damaged monuments in Nepal. The essay should also discuss how Nepal can hand down its cultural heritage to future generations).
Awards & Recognition:
The first-place winner will be awarded a prize of US $300 along with an award certificate. The second and third place winners will receive $100 and $50 respectively, along with an award certificate. The top three essays will also be published in NASeA’s upcoming Yeti View Point magazine. The winners will be honored during NASeA/ANMA joint convention during Labor Day Weekend 2015 in Greensboro/High Point, North Carolina.
Middle School Contest
Memoir: Devastated by the Earthquake
Discuss your memories regarding any place in Nepal that has been damaged by the recent earthquake. If you have not personally visited the location of choice, you may write from the perspective of someone who has, such as your parents.
Also discuss the state of the location after the earthquake. For example, the earthquake has given Nepal a chance to rebuild for the better. Therefore, what (if any) did you not like about the location prior to the earthquake and how can this concern be addressed during the reconstruction?
(Guideline: The essay should discuss a physical location – any city, village or an area such as Durbar Square).
Awards & Recognition:
First, second, and third place winners will be awarded a prize of US $100, $75 and $50 respectively along with an award certificate. The top three narrative writings will also be published in NASeA’s upcoming Yeti View Point magazine. The winners will be honored during NASeA/ANMA joint convention in Labor Day Weekend 2015 in Greensboro/High Point, NC.
The award for the middle school writing contest is sponsored by Dr. Sanjeeb Sapkota and Ms. Sabina Sapkota of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Elementary School Contest
Show and Tell: Lost Heritage of Nepal
Assume that you have to do a “Show-and-tell”, except instead of telling, you will be writing. Choose one famous Nepali temple, building, or place that has been destroyed or damaged by the recent earthquake in Nepal. Ask your parents to provide a picture of the object and write about it. Please do not forget to send us your picture along with your writing.
(Guideline: 1. Write about any historically significant temple, building, or place that has been damaged/destroyed by the recent earthquake in Nepal. 2. Attach a picture of your show and tell).
Awards & Recognition:
Elementary school “Show and Tell Nepal” contests’ first, second, and third place winners will be awarded a prize of US $100, $75 and $50 respectively along with an award certificate. The top three writings will also be published in NASeA’s upcoming Yeti View Point magazine. The winners will be honored during NASeA/ANMA joint convention in Labor Day Weekend 2015 in Greensboro/High Point, North Carolina.
The award for the elementary school essay competition is sponsored by Mr. Madhab Mainali and Sita Mainali from Huntsville, Alabama.
Call to Register for the Convention and Become Member of NASeA (Nepalese Association in Southeast America) By July 8, 2015
As announced earlier, NASeA’s election for the Board of Directors and Officers will be held on September 6, 2015 during the Annual NASeA/ANMA Convention to be held in Greensboro, NC.
As per the bylaws of NASeA, only those individuals who are members of NASeA by July 8, 2015 would be eligible to contest or vote in the election.
Currently, most members of NASeA include (a) attendees at the 2014 ANMA/NASeA annual convention in Denver, Colorado (August 30 – September 1, 2014) with payment of the full registration fees, or (b) life members of NASeA.
Recently, NASeA has decided that anyone registering for the convention by July 8, 2015 would be immediately granted membership of NASeA without incurring additional membership fees.
Therefore, the Election Committee encourages all individuals who are not currently members of NASeA to register for the convention and become members of NASeA by July 8, 2015, and thereby be eligible to contest or vote in the election.
As per NASeA bylaws, anyone registering for the convention after July 8, 2015 would not be eligible to contest or vote in the election to be held on September 6, 2015.
Please note that the last date for submitting nominations is August 7, 2015.
