NASeA Joins Candlelight Vigils Across the Southeast to Honor Nepal’s Brave Gen Z Martyrs

The Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) participated in a series of solemn candlelight vigils held across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida to honor the lives lost during the historic Gen Z-led protests in Nepal. These gatherings served as a powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of young Nepalis who stood against corruption and injustice, sparking a transformative movement that has ushered in a new era for the nation.

From Atlanta to Greensboro, from Columbia to Tampa, communities came together in unity and grief, lighting candles not only to mourn but to celebrate the indomitable spirit of a generation that refused to be silenced. Their bravery has not gone unnoticed—their actions have inspired global admiration and catalyzed the birth of a new Nepal.

NASeA extends heartfelt gratitude to the local organizations whose leadership and collaboration made these vigils possible:

  • Nepalese Association of Georgia
  • Nepali Cultural Center Atlanta
  • NRNA Georgia Chapter
  • International Nepali Literary Society – Georgia Chapter
  • Madheshi Association in America
  • South Carolina Association of Nepalese
  • Nepalese Association in Florida
  • Nepalese Student Association in University of South Carolina
  • The University of North Carolina at Greensboro

This collective moment marks only the beginning of NASeA’s renewed commitment to working hand-in-hand with local organizations to amplify the voices of the diaspora and support Nepal’s journey toward justice, equity, and democratic renewal.

Let the light of these candles guide us forward—toward unity, toward justice, and toward a future shaped by the courage of those who dared to dream.

NASeA Congratulates Rt. Hon. Sushila Karki on Her Historic Appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal

The Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations to Rt. Honorable Sushila Karki on her historic appointment as the first female Prime Minister of Nepal.

This landmark achievement is a powerful testament to Nepal’s progress and the growing strength of women’s leadership across the globe. Prime Minister Karki’s distinguished career—from serving as Chief Justice to now leading the nation—embodies integrity, resilience, and visionary service.

NASeA celebrates this moment with deep admiration and optimism. We are confident that under Prime Minister Karki’s leadership, Nepal will continue to thrive—advancing justice, equity, and prosperity for all.

As a cultural and community bridge between Nepal and the United States, NASeA reaffirms its commitment to promoting Nepal’s heritage, supporting its global aspirations, and standing in solidarity with its leaders.

Congratulations, Prime Minister Karki. Your journey inspires us all.

Warm regards,
Bidya Gurung

NASeA Joins Global Call for Justice in Nepal

The Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) joins the international community in condemning the violent suppression of peaceful protests in Nepal. The recent use of force against demonstrators — many of them young people — is a grave violation of democratic principles and human rights.

We urge the Government of Nepal to respect the rights of its citizens to peaceful assembly and free speech. NASeA calls for an independent investigation into these incidents and accountability for those responsible.

As members of the global Nepali diaspora, we stand in solidarity with all those advocating for justice, dignity, and democratic reform in Nepal.
