NASeA Joins Candlelight Vigils Across the Southeast to Honor Nepal’s Brave Gen Z Martyrs

The Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) participated in a series of solemn candlelight vigils held across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida to honor the lives lost during the historic Gen Z-led protests in Nepal. These gatherings served as a powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of young Nepalis who stood against corruption and injustice, sparking a transformative movement that has ushered in a new era for the nation.

From Atlanta to Greensboro, from Columbia to Tampa, communities came together in unity and grief, lighting candles not only to mourn but to celebrate the indomitable spirit of a generation that refused to be silenced. Their bravery has not gone unnoticed—their actions have inspired global admiration and catalyzed the birth of a new Nepal.

NASeA extends heartfelt gratitude to the local organizations whose leadership and collaboration made these vigils possible:

  • Nepalese Association of Georgia
  • Nepali Cultural Center Atlanta
  • NRNA Georgia Chapter
  • International Nepali Literary Society – Georgia Chapter
  • Madheshi Association in America
  • South Carolina Association of Nepalese
  • Nepalese Association in Florida
  • Nepalese Student Union of South Carolina
  • The University of North Carolina at Greensboro

This collective moment marks only the beginning of NASeA’s renewed commitment to working hand-in-hand with local organizations to amplify the voices of the diaspora and support Nepal’s journey toward justice, equity, and democratic renewal.

Let the light of these candles guide us forward—toward unity, toward justice, and toward a future shaped by the courage of those who dared to dream.
