Elementary School Show and Tell Contest
Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) and Association of Nepalese in Midwest America (ANMA) announce elementary school student “Show and Tell Nepal ” contest open to all elementary school student of North America . It is believed that no matter who we are, where we are and what we do; Nepal is always in our thoughts. We all are proud to be connected with Nepal solely or partially. The goal of this writing contest is to increase awareness about Nepal , Nepalese culture and natural environment to our young generation.

An elementary school “Show and Tell Nepal ” contest is sponsored by Mrs. Anita Adhikari of Ann Arbor , MI .
Title: Show and Tell Nepal

Assume you have to do a show and tell. But this time instead of telling, you will be writing. You can do “Show and Tell Nepal ”on anything related to Nepal , for example Flag, Temple , Mountains, Cities, Nepali food you like to eat, etc. Ask your parents to take a picture of the object you are doing “show and tell” and write about it. Please do not forget to send us the picture along with your writing.

(Writing should cover basic introduction, interesting features, and uniqueness of that thing).

Eligibility:
1. The content is open to all North American Region elementary school student enrolled in 2010-2011 and to all home- school student in grade equivalent to elementary school.
2. All “Show and Tell Nepal ” must reflect the contestant’s own research and originality in writing.
3. Limit one submission per student.
4. “Show and Tell Nepal ” must be submitted along with the picture of the object online before deadline to all Judging Committee chair.
Essay specification:
1. Written in English language.
2. Student’s name, email address and day-time phone number must appear at the top of the essay.
3. Document limits to 200-250 words for grade 4th and 5th and 100 -120 words for 1st to 3rd grader. All words, except title will be counted towards the word limits.
4. Type using MS-Word, double-spaced, page numbered.
5. Submit writing along with the picture of the object to Judging Committee Chair and carbon copy to all committee members.
Time table:
1. Essay submission deadline – Aug 12, 2010.
2. Winners will be notified by – Aug 20, 2010.
3. Recognition of Winners – September 4th, 2010 (during cultural program of NASeA/ANMA annual joint convention).
Judging criteria:
1. Scope of research (20%)
2. Organization of content (20 %)
3. Originality (20)
4. Logic development (10 %)
5. Spelling and grammar (10%).
6. Clarity and sincerity of thoughts (10%)
7. Completeness (10%)
A panel of official essay contest committee will conduct judging. The committee’s decision will be the final decision.

Awards & Recognition:

Elementary School “shoe and Tell Nepal ” contest first, second and third place winner will be awarded a prize of US $40, $35 and $25 respectively, along with their award certificate. The top writings will also be published in NASeA’s upcoming Yeti View Point magazine. The winners will be honored during NASeA/ANMA joint convention in Labor Day Weekend, 2010 in Lexington , KY.
