Greetings from NASeA!

On behalf of the External Relations Committee of Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) I take this pleasure to share with you all NAG’s Election Committee 2015 announcement.

This notice is for all individuals of Nepali origin, or individuals who have interest in Nepal, and those who are living in the State of Georgia to be the part of State organization NAG Election 2015.

Please find the attached NAG Election 2015 timeline and Guidelines and membership form published by the Chief election Commissioner C.K. Parajuli and the Election commissioners Raju Thapa, Bhabindra Basnet, Pranaya Lama and Janak Baral. For details read below/attached notice.

GUIDELINES FOR ELECTION -2015

As per the authorization and request of the current NAG executive committee, this Election Committee will held a fair, impartial election in a healthy environment on the 11th day of April 2015 at Sitar Restaurant (8465 Holcomb Bridge Rd. Alpharetta, GA 30022).

Please find the guidelines constructed by our committee:

 1. Membership, candidacy and voter registration:

As per organizational constitution of NAG, to file candidacy, one should become a member of NAG 30 days prior to the election date ( except for the President position;  candidates for this position needs to be of at least two years members of this organization) .

2. Candidates can nominee himself/herself for more than one position at the beginning; however he/she needs to withdraw rest of their nomination with in the due date and finalized only one position to run. Failure to do so will end up with the disqualification from the election 2015.

3. To be eligible to cast vote, one can acquire membership same day of election.

4. Voting starts at 2:00 PM and ends at 9:00 PM, then this committee will count all the votes and the election results will be declared.

5. Candidates should nominee personally with Candidacy fees (Non Refundable) that has been finalized.


6. For voting, one should place either a (
check) or a (cross) sign on the box following the name of a particular candidate.

7. If a vote is caste for more than a stated number of candidates for the same position, only a vote for that position will be canceled (invalid), the votes castes correctly for the rest of the positions  will be counted (valid).

8. The vote counting will be done in the private, only amongst the members of election committee.

9. If needed, some rules and guidelines could be added or modified. Only this election committee holds the right to make the final decision if any issue rises regarding the election procedure, rules and regulations.

10. Candidates and their representatives are not allowed for their campaign within the premises of the election area on the Election Day.

11. Election Committee encourages everyone to renew their membership
or acquire a new membership of NAG and to elect a new dynamic executive committee.

Scholarship Application Now OPEN for residents of Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia Pennsylvania and North Carolina

Established in 1967, the America Nepal Society (ANS) is one of the oldest non-profit organizations that has been serving the Nepalese expatriates and friends of Nepal since its inception; and has been working for charitable, literary and educational activities. The objectives of ANS includes fostering greater knowledge and understanding of literature, arts, cultures, values, manners, social customs, and other facts of diversities and similarities among Americans and Nepalese in the USA.

ANS is proud to announce the Annual ANS- Binod/Sabirti Mainali Scholarship for year 2015. This scholarship is dedicated to Binod and Sabitri Mainali for their lifelong dedication to their family and community.

This scholarship is open to High School seniors of Nepalese origins who are residents of Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia Pennsylvania and North Carolina. The purpose of this scholarship is to embolden High School seniors of Nepalese origin who excel academically, show leadership among peers, and make a positive impact within Nepalese community.

Theme: Life as a diplomat and beyond: An envoy reflects on the current politics and life in Nepal

Dr. Sharma is a globally renowned diplomat from Nepal. He has served as the Ambassador of Nepal to the United States earlier. He has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Hawaii. He was the Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Nepal from 2002 to 2006.

Before joining the National Planning Commission as a Member in 1997, he worked as a Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Nepal; Senior Economist in the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore; and a Fellow in the East-West Center, Hawaii. He also served as a Professor of Economics in the Centre for Economic Development and Administration, Tribhuvan University. Dr. Sharma was a lead consultant to the Constitution Committee on “Distribution of Natural Resources, Economic Rights and Public Revenue” in helping to draft the new Constitution of Nepal.

Dr. Sharma has much expertise at the grass-roots level as he has been an international consultant in Laos, Bhutan, and India. He also worked as a consultant expert in a number of national and international agencies including the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and UNDP. Dr. Sharma was also an editor to ASEAN Economic Bulletin and a consultant editor to Hydrocarbon Asia, both published from Singapore for about seven years. Currently Dr. Sharma serves as a Team Leader in a project on Federalism sponsored by the Government of Nepal and UNDP. He is a good friend of NASeA and has appeared frequently in this program and conventions.

Shesh Ghale is the current President of Non-Resident Nepali Association International Coordination Council (NRNA-ICC). He is one of the most famous Nepalese diaspora and lives in Melbourne, Australia. He is spearheading an effort in raising 150 million rupees for an NRNA building project in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is the foremost educationist, a shrewd businessman and a generous philanthropist. Mr. Ghale holds two masters degrees (one in Civil Engineering from Ukraine and another one in Business Administration from Victoria University, Australia). Currently, he is CEO and founder of Melbourne Institute of Technology. He also served as Honorary Consular General of Nepal in Victoria from 1997 to 2000.
